In the knockout rounds of the 20/21 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Man United faced Sociedad. They defeated the Spanish club 4-0 on aggregate.
In the Champions League group stages last season, Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova spectacularly defeated Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, Neil Lennon, a former Celtic captain and manager, presently oversees Cypriot side Omonoia.
Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners will host Bodo/Glimt from Norway and FC Zurich from Switzerland. They also face PSV from Netherlands, who notably fell to Rangers in the Champions League play-off round on Wednesday night.
The last time Arsenal and PSV faced off was in the 2007 Champions League, where Arsene Wenger’s team was defeated 2-1 on aggregate by the Dutch team.
Bodo/Glimt of Norway humiliated Jose Mourinho’s Roma 6-1 at home in the Europa Conference League group stages of the previous campaign, but ultimately fell to the Serie A team in the competition’s quarterfinal round. The match against Arsenal will surely be one to keep an eye on.
The Gunners will also play their first-ever match against Swiss champion FC Zurich.
