A second source has indicated that Manchester United are interested in signing a Premier League striker worth £40 million, who is a significantly more cost-effective option than Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.
It has been widely reported that Manchester United will be unable to spend as much money this summer as they did in past years. Indeed, Ruben Amorim has stated that player sales will be critical in defining United’s ambitions in the market.
Nonetheless, United moved fast to reach a verbal agreement on personal terms with Sporting CP star Geovany Quenda.
The 17-year-old is already a regular starter in Lisbon, having played right wing-back during Amorim’s final months in command before moving to Old Trafford.

The Quenda agreement was broken by reporter Ben Jacobs, who also stated that Manchester United will ‘very probably’ acquire a new striker.
Amorim rates Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen highly. However, neither player will be inexpensive.
Gyokeres is anticipated to cost roughly €70 million or £60 million if he leaves Sporting CP. Osimhen, having returned to Napoli following his loan spell at Galatasaray, can be bought for a somewhat greater fee of €75 million/£62 million via his release clause in the summer.
