Man United’s Transfer Target Will Not Sign New Deal This Month, Says Expert

Manchester United may be in luck, as Denzel Dumfries appears unlikely to sign a new contract with Inter Milan this month, according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

However, it is unclear whether Dumfries is still a major target for Manchester United, with Romano revealing to CaughtOffside in his exclusive Daily Briefing column that the Red Devils appear to be more interested in signing Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich in that area of the pitch.

Dumfries has thrived for Inter and may be an excellent addition to Erik ten Hag’s side, but Mazraoui is also a viable alternative, so he may be the more practical and/or economical option for now.

Still, Dumfries may be worth keeping an eye on, given the Netherlands international does not appear to be committed to staying at Inter.

Dumfries had been linked to United, but Romano has addressed the issue in his most recent column.

Romano explains the Dumfries transfer links to Manchester United.
“Another United tale that has received a lot of attention in recent hours is Denzel Dumfries. At the moment, I’m told that Manchester United’s priority aim is Noussair Mazraoui. There is still no agreement with Bayern, but the player is also waiting for United, so the right-back story remains focused solely on Mazraoui,” Romano added.

“Dumfries will not sign a new contract in August, but if he’s staying at Inter beyond August it remains a possibility for him to extend.”

United will undoubtedly require one of these players to replace the unconvincing Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, both of whom do not appear to be long-term first choices on the right side of the MUFC defence.
