Man Utd Flop Memphis Depay Handed Prison Sentence After Drink Driving Incident

Memphis Depay, who received a prison sentence for drunk driving, has apologized profusely.

Due to the incident, which was legally classified as “dangerous driving,” the former Manchester United player was sentenced to four months of suspended jail time.

After leaving a nightclub in Monaco in August of last year, Depay made the decision to go behind the wheel of his Rolls Royce.

The cops then stopped the Dutchman and gave him a breathalyzer. Depay’s blood alcohol content was 1.01 milliliters, above Monaco’s legal limit.

Additionally, the principality’s judicial officials have officially disclosed his punishment.

He was given a two-year driving prohibition in Monaco, a four-month suspended prison sentence, and an order to pay a €9,000 (£7,500) fine.

After the verdict was made public, Depay posted on Instagram, saying, “I would like to come on here and apologise.”

“I made the mistake of driving home after having some drinks at a restaurant during my vacation in Monaco last summer.

After making his debut with Dutch team PSV, Depay has had a career filled with ups and downs, reports Mirror.

He was transferred to Lyon after just scoring two Premier League goals.

After leaving Camp Nou, the attacker spent a season with Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid before joining Barcelona in 2021.
