Man Utd To Demolish Old Trafford And Share First Pics Of New £2bn ‘World’s Greatest Stadium’

Manchester United has announced that Old Trafford will be demolished and a new 100,000-seater stadium will be erected on the same location.

The new stadium will cost around £2 billion to build and will serve as the focal point of the Old Trafford revitalization project.

United think that the new stadium and the wider reconstruction project in the area, which is part of the government’s growth goal, can add £7.3 billion to the UK economy per year.

It is estimated that the new stadium project will generate up to 92,000 new employment and over 17,000 new residences. It is also hoped that the project will bring in an additional 1.8 million annual visitors.

Today (March 11), United presented photos and scaled models of the new stadium and surrounding region, which have been developed by architecture firm Foster + Partners, who have been tasked with designing the stadium district. Reported By Daily sun.

The next stage of the process involves thorough feasibility, consulting, design, and planning work, as the massive project moves into a new phase.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s co-owner, said: “Today marks the beginning of an immensely exciting journey to the completion of what will be the world’s finest football stadium, at the heart of a rebuilt Old Trafford.

“Our current stadium has served us well for the past 115 years, but it has lagged behind the top arenas in the world of sport. By building close to the current site, we will be able to preserve the character of Old Trafford while also producing a truly cutting-edge stadium that transforms the fan experience only steps away from our historic home.
