Ruben Amorim team now sit 14th in the Premier League table, with fresh reports showing how they are already preparing for the summer transfer window. European football is unlikely to return to Old Trafford next season, unless the Red Devils can win this season’s Europa League.

As they prepare for the first summer window under Amorim, TeamTalk reports that Trafford has been touted as a potential recruit this summer. The Burnley player has been in outstanding form this season and recently had his league-record 12-game string of clean sheets come to an end.

The former Manchester City academy player has appeared in 34 of Burnley’s 35 league games to date, maintaining 24 clean sheets and conceding only ten goals. According to reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford, the 22-year-old may be hired as a backup to Andre Onana, with the goal of eventually replacing the Cameroon international as first choice.

Trafford, who starred at the 2023 U21 European Championships and saved a penalty in the final against Spain as England won, has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle United, but Manchester United are expected to face stiff competition for his signature if they make a move for him this summer.

Newcastle’s £20 million proposal was knocked down, so United shifted their attention elsewhere. Last month, the Mail Online reported that Trafford is poised to finally conclude a move to Tyneside when the summer transfer market opens, with Newcastle United sources ‘expressing enormous optimism’ in the agreement.
