Midfielder Nico Gonzalez was one of Manchester City’s top January signings. The former Barcelona player, who attended the prestigious La Masia academy, moved to the Etihad Stadium for £50 million from Portuguese club FC Porto.
So far, the 23-year-old’s Citizens career is only in its early stages. He has only appeared eight times for Pep Guardiola’s team, with six starts in the Premier League and Champions League.
It was in the latter competition that he scored his first and only goal for City, albeit as a consolation against Real Madrid.
Gonzalez, who has so far played as a number six for City, was signed in part to assist alleviate the impact of Rodri’s injury, which keeps him out.

Incredibly, the Spain international, who won Euro 2024 last summer, has already resumed grass-based training. City’s official account shared a video on social media at the end of February of their star player sprinting and training with a ball at his feet.
