Wolves’ star Matheus Nunes is reportedly now a target for Manchester City.
Given Ruben Neves’ departure from the club, Nunes is regarded as a crucial player and it was previously stated that Wanderers do not want to sell Nunes and three other players at this stage of the transfer window.
However, the reigning Premier League champions City are reportedly now interested.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, City are now looking at 24-year-old Nunes. They have just recently walked away from a deal for West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta.
But Nunes is someone on their radar, with just over a week to go.
The Athletic say that City ‘are considering a small number of candidates to fill the void’ left by the injured Kevin De Bruyne.

Nunes has only been with Wolves since last summer, signing from Sporting CP for £42m. He struggled in his first season in the Premier League, but showed flashes of brilliance.
It has been claimed that Wolves don’t want to sell Nunes – who’s been described as a ‘complete midfielder’ – at this point in the window. However, Wolves will consider ‘inflated offers’ for Nunes and a few other players.
Manchester City obviously have a lot of money. They were set to splash £85m on Paqueta before that move fell through.
It will be very interesting to see if they do come in with a huge bid to test Wolves’ resolve.
