Manchester United Boss Explains Casemiro’s Lack Of Playing Time

After the Manchester United midfielder was once again looked over for the starting lineup, Erik ten Hag asserts that Casemiro must come into the team “in a natural way.”

Casemiro, who cost £70m from Real Madrid, was not given the opportunity to make a Premier League start against Manchester City.

On the hour mark, Casemiro made his appearance in place of Scott McTominay, who has continued to start despite the Brazilian’s arrival.

United won their first game of the season on the day Casemiro was unveiled. They have won four in a row since, which Ten Hag attributed to his decision to continue with a winning team.

Why Does Casemiro Sit On The Bench For Manchester United?

Many people are shocked by Casemiro’s uneven usage given his high salaries and performance at Real Madrid, where he won five Champions Leagues. He has started from the bench in each of his previous appearances.

Casemiro’s absence was highlighted by the way United’s midfield failed to stop City’s constant barrage of raids.

He was a standout holding midfielder in Spain in the past and was renowned for stopping enemy assaults, which may have had an effect on Sunday.

Ten Hag said: “On the day we signed him, we started to win and it’s about the team.

“The team is doing really well, it’s not against Casemiro, it’s for, in this case, Scott McTominay.

“He performed great in the team and then we get into a run, but I’m sure it will be important for us in the long and short-term. He will find himself in the team but it has to come in a natural way.”
