Manchester United are now confident of signing major Liverpool target Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, according to a fresh report.
Gakpo, who scored three goals in as many games for the Netherlands in Qatar, has been one of the World Cup’s top players.
The 23-year-old was approached by Manchester United about a transfer in the summer.
PSV however vetoed the deal because they didn’t want to lose a valuable player so late in the transfer window that they wouldn’t have time to find a replacement.
Gakpo looks set for a Premier League move in January, with Liverpool believed to be interested.
Although now, Man Utd are increasingly confident they can sign Gakpo in January rather than wait until next summer, according to Football Insider.

Man Utd were making progress in the pursuit of the forward, and had reached an “agreement in principle” with the player.
The Red Devils are reportedly in regular contact with Gakpo’s camp and believe his performances in Qatar will make it harder for Eindhoven to keep hold of him in January.
Indeed, the Dutch giants will likely benefit from a post-World Cup inflation to Gakpo’s price after the star’s group stage performances.
However, the publication claims that Man Utd are unlikely to be deterred by Gakpo’s £50million+ transfer fee.
