Victor Lindelof, the defender for Manchester United, acknowledged that he “needs minutes” after playing 90 minutes for Sweden against Northern Ireland on Tuesday night.
After being called up to the starting lineup, Lindelof captained his nation as they easily defeated Michael O’Neill’s team, winning 5-1 in Stockholm.
Over the weekend, the United center-back had to watch his teammates from the sidelines as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Luxembourg, reports Manchester Evening.
With just 14 appearances for United across all competitions this season, the 30-year-old has struggled to find opportunities and minutes, and it is increasingly probable that he will depart Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of this season.
Lindelof, who hasn’t played a lot of football this season, expressed his satisfaction at being back in the center of Sweden’s defense, saying “it felt good” to have played an entire game.

“It’s been a long time,” Lindelof stated. It was pleasant. Playing for ninety minutes is pleasant. I require minutes.
“It’s enjoyable to hold for ninety minutes because the national team plays with a lot of intensity. It’s a challenging and difficult style of football.
However, we also need to do it. Though it’s a little weird to be so high up sometimes, it still felt like we solved it nicely.
