Former Manchester United player Memphis Depay may end his contract with Corinthians just one month after moving from Atletico Madrid.
Despite interest from other European teams, the former Manchester United winger decided to move to Brazil with a year remaining on his contract with Atletico Madrid.
But his future at Corinthians is uncertain due to financial concerns, reports Manchester Evening News.
The majority of Depay’s income is apparently paid by the club’s main sponsor, Esportes da Sorte, which is allegedly involved in illegal activities.
If they are forced to sever ties with the team, Corinthians may not be able to afford the £9m-per-year agreement with the 30-year-old, one of the league’s highest earners.
Depay may be looking for a new squad soon, even if he has only contributed two assists in his four club games.
The attacker began his career with PSV in his home Netherlands and has subsequently played in England, France, and Spain.
United signed him after an impressive season in which he scored over 20 goals in PSV.

Before moving to Lyon following Van Gaal’s dismissal, he had only seven goals in 53 games.
Depay found his scoring touch again in France, where he finished his four seasons with the team with 71 goals.
He came to Atletico Madrid after two years at Nou Camp, where he scored 13 goals in his first season.
For a little amount, Diego Simeone’s squad recruited Depay, who scored nine goals in his last season.
