Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana who was expelled from the 2022 World Cup, has come out of international retirement in order to be a part of the Cameroon team announced by coach Rigobert Song on Tuesday.
Onana was chosen as part of a 24-person squad for the Sept. 12 African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Burundi.
All Cameroon needs to do to advance to the tournament, which begins on January 13 in Ivory Coast, is draw the home game against Burundi.
In December of last year, Onana, then 26 years old, said he was ending his international career.
He was benched after clashing with coach Rigobert Song over team tactics. This was after playing Cameroon’s opening match at the World Cup in Qatar, a 1-0 loss to Switzerland.

Song insisted that players need to “show discipline and respect,” which left Onana ousted from the team.
Cameroon went on to play a 3-3 draw with Serbia and beat World Cup heavyweights Brazil 1-0 but could not advance to the round of 16.
However the Manchester United goalie said last year: “Cameroon remains eternal and so does my love for the national team.”
And now, it seems like those troubles are all in the past.
