Manchester United are reportedly the latest club to enter the race to sign England and Leicester City midfielder, James Maddison in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old’s contract will expire after this season. And he has hinted he won’t sign a new one with the Foxes.
Even if Leicester remain in the Premier League and avoids relegation, Maddison will be sold. Dean Smith’s team is fighting for survival in this current campaign.
In the previous two transfer windows, Newcastle expressed interest in Maddison. While Tottenham expressed interest due to a need for creativity in the middle of the park.
But according to The Telegraph, Manchester United has entered the fray and may engage in a bidding war for his services.
Between £45 million to £60 million is what Leicester are asking for Maddison. Although the final fee will likely depend on the Foxes’ ability to remain in the Premier League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has Maddison as a target in the 2020/2021 season. Maddison is a boyhood United supporter.
Although signing a top center forward is United’s top priority. Ten Hag would like to relieve Bruno Fernandes of some of the creative pressure.
By playing on the left-flank and in deeper midfield positions over the past 18 months, Maddison has demonstrated his tactical adaptability.
