The Premier League Hall of Fame has now welcomed Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, as its 17th member.
Ferdinand’s induction into the Premier League Hall of Fame was only a matter of time. Especially after representing three other clubs in the division and winning six league titles with United.
Along with playing for Manchester United, Ferdinand also played for West Ham, Leeds, and Queens Park Rangers.
He was selected for the Premier League Hall of Fame following a vote by fans across the world.
Reflecting on his achievement, Ferdinand said: “As a defender, I’m not used to celebrating personal glory – we leave that to the midfielders and strikers!
“When you start your career, you never dream of how well things could turn out.
“I remember all those long journeys on trains and tubes. All the training, cleaning players’ boots and taking care of the kit.
“I remember going back to my estate and seeing my friends who were all desperate to know what it was like.”

After breaking through at West Ham, making his debut at just 17, Ferdinand became the world’s most expensive defender when he signed for Leeds in 2000.
The former England international then broke his own record two years later when he joined Manchester United for £30m.
