Manchester United have reportedly made a bid for Atletico Madrid attacker Yannick Ferreira Carrasco.
The Belgian winger has been in fine form this season, scoring 10 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions, and according to Spanish reports, relayed by Manchester Evening News, United have made their interest known.
Chelsea have also done so, but they face plenty of competition for his signature with Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich all keen on the 23-year-old.
The report states that Carrasco’s agent has informed Atleti of the offers, but the Spanish club are understandably reluctant to entertain them, with a £86 million buy-out clause offering some protection.
Carrasco signed a five-year contract when he joined Atletico Madrid from Monaco in 2015 for a reported €20 million fee.
He has grown into a wonderful player during his time with Atleti, becoming a first choice for both club and country.
This season he’s featured in 17 of Atletico’s 18 La Liga games, scoring six times, while registering two assists and completing 35 take-ons.
United are on a 17-game unbeaten streak in all competitions under Jose Mourinho and have plenty of competition for places in wide areas.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney have all been used in the wide positions of Mourinho’s 4-3-3 formation this season.
However, it seems the club are keen to strengthen their side further, with interest in Carrasco’s Atleti team mate Antoine Griezmann also due to be stepped up in the summer.
