Manchester United ‘Make First Moves’ To Sign Harry Kane

Manchester United have reportedly started making attempts to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane this summer.

The England captain’s future has been a major topic of contention in recent summer transfer windows, with Spurs previously fending off interest from Manchester City.

However, given that the long-serving frontman is yet to sign new terms with the North Londoners, he now has less than 14 months left on his contract.

While reports say that chairman Daniel Levy may not sell the 29-year-old at the end of the season, it is still a viable option.

Spurs cannot afford to risk losing a player worth almost £100m on a free transfer in 2024, especially if they struggle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Spurs were blasted 6-1 by Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, leaving them six points behind the Magpies and Manchester United, who have played one and two games fewer, respectively, in the Premier League table.

Such a scenario would undoubtedly affect Kane as he considers his next move, especially as Spurs are now without a permanent manager.

According to The Telegraph, United are now ready to start talks about a summer transfer.

Levy would prefer not to trade Kane to a Premier League competitor, particularly United, because the two clubs have not always had a cordial relationship behind the scenes.

However, United and possibly Chelsea, who are expected to recruit former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach, are the only clubs in the Premier League that are possible destinations for Kane at this time.

According to the report, there is a growing assumption that Kane will not consider signing a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which would only promote a United bid.
