Manchester United Make Shocking Enquiry For Premier League Defender’

Manchester United have made an enquiry about Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been linked with the transfer of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu, but might benefit from the departure of many out-of-favour players to free up finances.

Due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s injuries, Ruben Amorim has had to play right-back Diogo Dalot as a left wing-back this season.

The latter has been used sparingly by Manchester United’s manager, having returned to full fitness this season after more than a year away.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils are ‘exploring the idea’ of signing a left fullback this month, assuming they can afford it.

According to the article, Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri and Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell have also been approached.

Amorim wants to increase his alternatives before releasing players, as United face Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday and remain in the FA Cup.

The terms of Antony’s transfer to Betis have been broadly agreed upon, but details remain to be resolved while Amorim assesses what he has to work with moving forward.

Dorgu’s contract with the Serie A club Lecce expires in 2029. The 20-year-old began his youth career with Copenhagen-based Husum Boldklub before joining Nordsjaelland’s youth academy.

He signed with Lecce in 2022, and a year later was promoted to the senior team, making his Coppa Italia debut in August 2023.

Mitchell, meanwhile, has started every game for Palace in the Premier League this season.
