Manchester United are reportedly making progress in their quest to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, United are becoming increasingly hopeful of signing Torres, although a deal is unlikely to be finalised until his involvement with Spain at Euro 2020 is over.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to bring in a new centre-back this summer, with Torres one of the players under consideration.
Solskjaer’s side previously had a £50m package turned down for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
Although Varane is still considered as an option, United are unlikely to make Real’s asking price of £80m.
Torres, who impressed against United in the Europa League final, is thought to be a more attainable target.
The 24-year-old has spent his entire career at Villarreal other than a loan spell at Malaga in the 2018-19 campaign.
United are also looking to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and have submitted a bid of £75m for the England international.
