Manchester United are continuing to struggle away from home under Erik ten Hag and they badly need their home form to get back to its best to turn this season around.
Last season, if there was one clear weakness for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, it was on the road. Their away record, particularly in major games, was dismal.
They failed to defeat any of the Premier League’s top nine teams away from home, and only one of the top twelve. Despite that record, they finished third, demonstrating how reliant they were on success at Old Trafford According to Manchester Evening
Last season, United defeated Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Chelsea at home. Barcelona was defeated in the Europa League there. They were making up for it in front of their own fans, as awful as they were away from home.

But, like with so many other concerns this season, instead of resolving one issue to move the team ahead, United has regressed. Last season’s success was founded on a great defensive record and home form, but this season they are conceding goals at an alarming rate and have grown susceptible at Old Trafford.
If United’s away form was not going to improve – and defeats at Tottenham, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich imply it hasn’t – it was critical that they remain a force at home. Instead, they’ve lost to Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Galatasaray this season, and they’ve looked unconvincing in narrow victories against Wolves and Nottingham Forest.
This is costing the team dearly, with six defeats in the first ten games of the season. Ten Hag is feeling the pressure and realizes he must act immediately.
The Score Recorded ?
On the road, that seems implausible. The 1-0 triumph at Burnley last month was gritty and hard-fought, but United has only won two of their last nine away games, against Bournemouth and Burnley, losing seven. It’s a dreadful record that leaves them with little room to gain ground at home.
But this team has already lost more games at Old Trafford than they did all of last season, when they only lost two games in 34 in all competitions, both before September 8. In fact, when United hosted Brighton last month, they were unbeaten in 32 home games.
How quickly that sense of invincibility at Old Trafford has disappeared. They have lost three of their last four and the fortress lies in rubble.
Ten Hag’s transformation of United’s domestic standing last season was one of the more stunning aspects of his management. Over the last decade, clubs have found it far too simple to beat United at Old Trafford, spotting that weakness and coming in for the kill.
