On Monday, United lost at Old Trafford for the third time in a row in the Premier League and for the fourth time in all competitions.

Amorim’s team is now 13th in the standings, seven points above the relegation zone.

“I think the team is a little bit lost in this moment, so it’s a little bit embarrassing to be a Manchester United coach and to lose a lot of games,” said Amorim.

“But we have to cope with difficult moments in the life of everybody, so it’s a hard moment.

“We have to acknowledge our position the way you see the league, that everybody can beat everybody, so we have to win games and to focus on surviving.

After just 33 minutes, Amorim substituted Joshua Zirkzee after United had fallen behind 2-0 to Newcastle after goals from Joelinton and Alexander Isak.

The Dutchman was booed by the home crowd as he left the field, reports ESPN.

The defeat to Newcastle condemned United to their lowest-ever Premier League point total of 51 in a calendar year, with a trip to first-place Liverpool on Sunday’s schedule.
