Manchester United Offered Chance To Sign Real Madrid Marco Asensio For £25m

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Marcos Asensio from Real Madrid before the summer transfer window closes.

The Red Devils are still negotiating a contract for Ajax’s Antony, but another forward could arrive before the deadline, with head coach Erik ten Hag eager to bolster his attacking options.

Asensio’s future has generated a significant amount of speculation this summer, with teams like AC Milan, Liverpool, and Arsenal rumoured to be interested in the Spain international.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Asensio, who is said to be available for around £25 million.

The Red Devils are claimed to have discussed the versatile forwards with Real Madrid during their Casemiro talks, and he is considered as a possible alternative before the transfer window ends.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted said on Thursday that the Spaniard is considering leaving the Bernabeu.

“Marco is looking at things to see if he can leave. If he doesn’t leave, he will 100% be a Madrid player,” Relevo quotes the Italian as saying following the Champions League draw.

During the 2021-22 season, the 26-year-old was a regular for Real Madrid, appearing in 42 games across all competitions and providing 12 goals and two assists.

However, Asensio’s present contract is set to end in June of next year, and there are currently no talks about a possible extension at the club.

Since joining Real Madrid from Mallorca in 2014, the attacker has scored 49 goals and registered 24 assists in 236 appearances, earning three La Liga titles and three Champions League wins.

He did, however, indicate earlier this summer that a departure during the current transfer window was a possibility, telling Marca: “Renew or leave Real Madrid? I think there are three possibilities, there is also the option to stay and fulfil my contract year.

“My future does not have to depend on whether or not I will have a place in the next World Cup. Rumours are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. Many players come out every summer and it’s something we have to live with.”

Asensio has only appeared in seven minutes of La Liga action for Real Madrid this season, coming on as a late substitute in the 4-1 win over Celta Vigo.

The Spaniard is reportedly willing to leave Real Madrid for a club where he would be regarded a starter, since he is behind Federico Valverde and Rodrygo in the pecking order for a berth on the right side of the attack.

Man United are also thought to be mulling an approach to re-sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona, although a deal for Frenkie de Jong is currently considered exceedingly doubtful at this point in the transfer window.
