Manchester United will meet with Chelsea this week about signing Mason Mount.
Chelsea rejected a third £50 million deal for Mount from United last week and offered a face-to-face meeting to discuss the matter as they returned the offer with a demand for £65 million.
United are emphatic that they will not go anywhere near Chelsea’s £65 million value for a player with one year left on his contract, which is made up of £57 million plus £8 million in add-ons.

However, the Old Trafford club is believed to be eager to negotiate the structure and finer details of their £55 million deal and will conduct negotiations with Chelsea this week.
Mount is valued at £65 million by the Blues, but United believe their third bid of £50 million, with a further £5 million in add-ons, is a reasonable price for a player who may leave the club for nothing at the conclusion of next season. This has resulted in a stalemate in negotiations, with United willing to move on to other targets such as Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo instead.
And now, according to trade guru Fabrizio Romano [via Football.London], the teams have agreed to meet and discuss the prospective move. “The two clubs have planned direct contact to thrash out the final details over whether a deal will go ahead or not,” according to the report.
Elsewhere, Gazzetta dello Sport [via Sport Witness] claims United baulked at Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot’s ‘mega salary’ demands. It is understood the midfielder, who is represented by his mother Veronique, requested an £8.6million annual salary – or around £165,000 per week – as well as the same amount up front as a signing-on fee.
