Manchester United Rejected Deals For Memphis Depay, Christian Pulisic This summer

Manchester United reportedly rejected nine more players during the summer transfer window including former star Memphis Depay and Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic.

At one point, just after Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford, there was dissatisfaction among the fandom as United remained patient in the market.

However, the Red Devils finally signed as many as six first-team players in an attempt to turn their fortunes around on the field.

Following the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez in July, Casemiro, Antony, and Martin Dubravka arrived in the final weeks of the season.

Nonetheless, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United were offered the chance to recruit nine more players before the September 1 deadline.

Romano stated on his YouTube channel that Depay was among the names proposed to United this summer.

Memphis Depay appears to be the most prominent, having appeared set to leave Barcelona in the dying days of the transfer window before ultimately staying at Camp Nou.

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic was another high-profile name submitted to club officials, but the decision was reached for the United States international to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Prior to the signing of Casemiro, central midfielders were high on Ten Hag’s desired list, with three players emerging as options at one point.

However, Leandro Paredes (now at Juventus), Weston McKinnie (now at Juve), and Moises Caicedo (Brighton & Hove Albion) did not end up moving to the North-West of England.

Sergino Dest, a former Barcelona defender, was close to joining United before agreeing to join AC Milan.

Despite rumours over his future, fellow right-back Thomas Meunier remained at Borussia Dortmund, while Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco appeared to be a potential choice at one point.

Hirving Lozano of Napoli is the final name on the reported shortlist, and he was seen as a possible replacement for Antony.

After a shaky start to the new Premier League season, United have won four games in a row to sit fifth in the standings after six games.
