Manchester United ‘Set To Make Fresh Mason Mount Bid’

Manchester United are reportedly planning a second bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount after their opening bid got rejected.

The England international appears to be on his way out this summer after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract.

Mount’s current contract expires in 12 months, and negotiations for a new deal with Chelsea have stalled.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been connected with Mount, but it appears that Manchester United are the frontrunner in the race to sign him.

Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his midfield options as the futures of Fred, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek are uncertain.

The Red Devils stepped up their pursuit on Wednesday, proposing a £40m bid that was quickly rejected by the West London club.

Man United are contemplating a second offer for the Chelsea academy product, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Blues are believed to be demanding a sum of around £70m, while the Red Devils are unwilling to go above £60m.

Man United are unwilling to spend the majority of their resources on one player, despite Ten Hag’s desire to recruit a center striker this summer.

Despite the fact that the two clubs’ values are far off, Mount is still eager to join the Red Devils and there is a good chance he will leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea may be obliged to lower their asking price rather than let Mount walk away for free in 2024.

The 24-year-old scored three goals and had six assists in 35 competitive games despite missing the final seven games of the season with a pelvic ailment.
