In an effort to strengthen their defense, Manchester United are set to spend a huge sum on a defender who has just won a title.
Lisandro Martinez, who has been a huge hit at Old Trafford, was acquired by the Red Devils for a sizable price last summer. Raphael Varane joined the club in a high-profile trade the summer before, however both players are now sidelined with injuries.
Erik ten Hag hasn’t been won over by Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire, thus Manchester United’s squad may need another center-back or possibly two.
Corriere dello Sport in Italy are reporting that United are set to offer £13m more than Napoli star Kim Min-Jae’s release clause in a bid to bring the South Korean to the Premier League.
Kim has recently won the Scudetto in Italy with Napoli after a forming season in which he’s stepped into the breach vacated by Kalidou Koulibaly.
His release clause is said to be around £40m.

Furthermore, the Manchester Evening News reports that United are “in pole position” to sign Monaco star Axel Disasi. According to rumours, the club would pay almost £40m for his services.
Disasi and Kim, two imposing center backs who are adept at controlling the defense, would complement both Lisandro Martinez and stand-in centre-back Luke Shaw well.
Their combined price would only just be more expensive than their record signing in this area of the pitch.
