With the €12 million (£10 million) contract that Manchester United has reached with Sporting, Amiron, who is only 39, and three of his backroom staff will leave Portugal for the Premier League.
Dalot is thrilled about the opportunity to work under such a renowned coach and fellow countryman, even if Amorim won’t take over until the Red Devils’ first game after the international break on Sunday, November 24.
Dalot told Sky Sports following Wednesday’s thrilling 5-2 Carabao Cup victory against Leicester City: “Clearly, he is a good manager.
“We don’t know if he’s coming or not, we see the rumours like everybody. But we will focus on what we have here, doing our job. What the future brings, we’ll be ready.”
Mirror notes that Amorim was the subject of identical remarks made by Bruno Fernandes in September.
“Sporting has been one of the teams to practice better football since Mr. Amorim arrived,” former captain Fernandes told CNN Portugal.
