Manchester United Will Decide Mason Greenwood’s Future Ahead Of The New Premier League Season

Mason Greenwood’s future at Manchester United is poised to be decided soon, with the club expected to make a statement before the start of the next Premier League season.

United have been undertaking an internal inquiry for the past six months, following the Crown Prosecution Service’s announcement in early February that charges of attempted rape and violence against the 21-year-old will be dropped.

Greenwood has been suspended by United for the last 18 months as a result of his arrest in January 2022, preventing him from playing for the club or even training with his teammates at Carrington.

United, on the other hand, recognizes the importance of resolving the ambiguity surrounding his condition before the start of the new season and will announce their decision within the next two weeks. According to Talksport a decision is now close.

United has the option of terminating Greenwood’s contract, re-integrating him into the squad, selling or loaning him to another club for the upcoming season.

He is currently under contract for another two years until 2025, with a one-year extension option.

Greenwood has been spotted working out with a fitness trainer at a nearby public ground, as has his former Manchester United teammate Anthony Elanga, who has recently joined Nottingham Forest.
Responding to inquiries regarding Greenwood’s future on the first leg of United’s summer tour of the US in New Jersey earlier this month, manager Erik ten Hag said: ‘It’s a club decision and, of course, I’ve offered my ideas but it’s a club decision and we all have to accept that.

‘I can’t say much about it, but I did express my opinion, so let’s see what happens.’
