Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has hinted that he is unlikely to play for the foreseeable future after suffering an injury against Southampton.
Garnacho had to be replaced as a substitute against Southampton on Sunday afternoon after sustaining an injury in a challenge with Kyle Walker-Peters.
Later, the youngster was seen leaving Old Trafford while wearing a protective boot, indicating that he had sustained more than a minor injury.
Head coach Erik ten Hag stated that he did not believe the injury was “too bad” in a post-game interview with the media.
However, reports on Tuesday suggested that the injury was more serious than initially thought, raising doubt on when the 18-year-old will be available again.
Garnacho, who was set to make his debut for Argentina during the international break, has now addressed the injury, implying that he will still be out when United begin their fixtures in April.
“It’s difficult to put into words how I’m feeling right now,” Garnacho wrote on Instagram. Unfortunately I will not be able to help my team and team-mates in the upcoming games in what is a very important part of the season for us at Manchester United.
Garnacho has had a fantastic first full season in the senior ranks, with 10 starts and 19 substitute appearances across all competitions.

Four goals and four assists have resulted from those games, and United are reportedly set to sign the prospect to a new long-term contract.
In the short term, his absence is a setback to United, who will already be missing Casemiro for the next four domestic matches as a result of his second red card of the season in the game against Southampton.
