Manchester United’s second offer for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite was turned down.
United must now choose whether to reenter the market with a stronger offer.
Last month, Sky Sports News said that Everton had rejected an initial offer from United that was far less than their estimate for the defender.
According to one source, the deal may have been worth £35 million plus add-ons.
Branthwaite is an important player for the Toffees.

Branthwaite was left off of England’s preliminary Euro 2024 roster, despite the fact that he featured 35 times for the Toffees in the previous season.
Regarding Matthijs de Ligt, Red devils and Bayern Munich are still in negotiations.
Positive discussions regarding De Ligt have been reported with Bayern. Everybody is eager to work together to complete the agreement.
Bayern wants an extra £42.5 million.
Manchester United and Lille have reached a preliminary deal on defender Leny Yoro, who is valued at €50 million (£42.2).
It is still possible to sign two central defenders during current transfer window.
Raphael Varane departed the team after his contract expired, and United wants to bring someone in to take his place.
If there are additional exits from that position, then more additions will follow.
The future of Victor Lindelof may be crucial. The defender’s contract is about to expire, and negotiations for a new agreement are not yet scheduled.
