Manchester United’s Failure To Land Six-Time Champion Explained As Player Joins Former Red Devil Instead

The reasons behind Manchester United’s failure to sign Adrien Rabiot have been disclosed, as the six-time Ligue 1 champion has decided to return to France and join Marseille.

Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek left United this summer. They signed Manuel Ugarte, but were hoping to add more midfield depth, especially with Casemiro’s form fading.

For a long time, former Juventus player Rabiot appeared to be the best choice, as he became available for free this summer.

According to L’Equipe, United attempted to sign the free agent but were unsuccessful. According to reports, both they and West Ham made significant efforts to get Rabiot through the door.

However, his wage demands were too excessive, and he has subsequently decided to join Marseille, returning to France.

He will play alongside former United player Mason Greenwood, who has been with the club since the summer and has five goals and an assist in four games.

Rabiot is believed to have wanted £12.6 million in signing-on fees alone.

After United failed to sign the Frenchman, he signed a two-year contract with Marseille. It’s surprising that the French were willing and capable of paying more than United.

The Red Devils are among the wealthiest teams in the world of sports. However, they have recently invested a lot of money, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe hoping to carry out his ambition of returning the club to the top of the globe.

While Marseille has added a lot of talent, they haven’t spent nearly as much as United, thus they may have had more to spend on Rabiot.
