Marcus Rashford Close To Agreeing New Man United Contract

Manchester United are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Marcus Rashford over new long-term deal worth up to £100m.

Under manager Erik ten Hag, the 25-year-old has revived his career, contributing 30 goals and 11 assists in 56 matches across all competitions during the 2022-23 season.

Rashford scored 17 goals in 35 Premier League games, and he also played a key role in United’s EFL Cup victory, scoring six goals en route to the final.

The England international had previously endured a disappointing 2021-22 season and was linked with a possible exit from Old Trafford due to interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Rashford has now established himself as a star player under Ten Hag, who stated last month that he expects the attacker to commit his future to the club.

Rashford’s current contract with the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2024.

However, according to The Mirror, the academy graduate is set to sign a new five-year contract with the option of an additional year, and will surpass David de Gea as the club’s top earning.

Rashford currently earns £200,000 per week, but his new contract will pay him roughly £375,000 per week.

De Gea currently receives the same amount every week, but the Spanish goalkeeper is expected to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of this month.

The 32-year-old is on Man United’s released list, but the Red Devils have stated that “discussions remain open” with the shot-stopper about a potential extension.

With Rashford set to sign new terms, United have eight players out of contract in June 2024, including first-team trio Anthony Martial, Fred, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Victor Lindelof.
