Marcus Rashford ‘In Talks Over New Five-Year Man United Deal’

Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Marcus Rashford over a new five-year contract, provided he accepts a basic salary of £300,000-a-week.

The 25-year-old has spent his entire professional career at Old Trafford, having progressed through the academy system to make 328 appearances across all competitions.

However, until the arrival of Erik ten Hag last year, it was believed that the England international would look for a new challenge away from his boyhood club.

Rashford has been in some of his best form since working under Ten Hag, particularly either side of the World Cup break.

While the versatile attacker scored three goals in six games before representing England in Qatar, he has since taken his game to new heights since returning to club action.

Rashford has scored in each of United’s last seven games, contributing eight goals and two assists while the Red Devils have won all seven.

Rashford is currently focused on trying to extend that streak, knowing that a win at Selhurst Park would move United into second place in the Premier League table.

Nevertheless, The Sun reports that negotiations for a new long-term contract are currently underway behind the scenes.

United recently activated a 12-month option in Rashford’s contract to ensure that he would not hold talks with foreign clubs beginning in January.

However, that development was a formality, and the United hierarchy now wishes to give Rashford a contract until 2028 as soon as possible.

According to the report, United are willing to give the striker a 50% raise, bringing his weekly salary to around £300,000.

While clubs such as PSG may be willing to offer Rashford a more lucrative contract, United are reportedly unwilling to break their wage structure.
