Maresca Tears Into Chelsea Star After 5-1 Victory Over Southampton

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca witnessed his side defeat Southampton 5-1 on Wednesday night but still criticized one of the goalscorers claiming ‘he can do more’.

Chelsea supporters on the south coast cheered their players on with cries of “we’ve got our Chelsea back.” The Blues are currently in second place in the Premier League standings, seven points adrift of Liverpool, who drew to Newcastle.

According to Football 365, Maresca chastised Noni Madueke for his complacency and disclosed that his training style had resulted in him being dropped from the team’s victory over Aston Villa over the weekend.

Maresca made seven changes when he came to Southampton. But the winger who scored his first goal since early October received a warning from the Italian boss.

He said: “Noni can do much more. He can do much more. The moment he starts to score or assist and is happy, he starts to drop a little bit and the reason why he was not playing is because I do not like the way he trained.

“He has to understand that he has to train every day good. He has to be ambitious. He scored one tonight, he has to go for the second one and the third one. He has to give more assists.

“But overall, he is doing great, he is doing fantastic. He is doing even better in terms of numbers. Noni has to understand he has to work more because he can be much, much, much better.”

Chelsea are set to visit Tottenham Hotspur next in the Premier League.
