Manchester United winger Anthony Martial is looking into the possibility of a move away from the club in the January transfer window, according to his agent.
Philippe Lamboley told ABC de Sevilla, according to Le10Sport, that he and the player were considering moving to La Liga club Sevilla in the new year, because the player is dissatisfied with his first team chances at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.
Martial – United’s top scorer last season – has started just seven of United’s 18 Premier League games to date and has a mere one goal in the league. He does have five in all competitions, but recently voiced how he needs to be playing first team football to continue his development, calling his time out of the side “truly annoying.”
Lamboley said of Sevilla’s reported interest: “We are indeed studying this possibility, we are talking about a large club. Sevilla has a good position in La Liga and has a great coach. But for now, I cannot say more.”
West Ham United have also been linked recently, though it’s reported that United are unwilling to offload the player on loan or otherwise at any point in the future because of his importance to the squad as a whole. Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford are among the other names competing for positions in the United squad with the Frenchman.
In one of Martial’s most recent interviews, he uttered on his situation at Old Trafford: “It’s annoying to be on the bench, it’s truly annoying, but it’s a test you have to overcome and that’s how you progress.
“It’s difficult because all you want is to be able to help the team and when you’re on the bench you can’t. But these are choices and you have to accept it.”
