Martin Dubravka ‘Agrees Personal Terms With Man United’

Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has reportedly reached a personal agreement with Manchester United ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

The 33-year-old appears to be Manchester United’s top goalkeeping target, with the club wanting to secure a number two for the 2022-23 season.

David de Gea is the club’s first choice goalkeeper, but Tom Heaton is the club’s only senior back up, with Lee Grant retiring last summer and Dean Henderson joining Nottingham Forest on loan.

Dubravka has recently been closely connected with the 20-time English champions, and Magpies boss Eddie Howe recently stated that the Red Devils have contacted the club.

“There has been contact between the clubs and those discussions will continue,” Howe told reporters. “In terms of a final outcome, I’m reluctant to lose any important players from the group so that will be a decision that is out of my hands.”

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Dubravka has reached an agreement with Manchester United on personal terms and is hoping that Newcastle would allow him to leave.

According to Romano, the Red Devils want to sign the goalkeeper on loan for the 2022-23 season, with a £5m buy option for next summer.

Newcastle, on the other hand, is keen on a permanent transfer this summer, with the two clubs still negotiating the terms.

The Slovakia international joined St James’ Park from Sparta Prague in 2018, initially on loan, and has made 130 appearances for the team across all competitions.

Dubravka was the club’s indisputable number one in 2018-19 and 2019-20, although he only appeared 14 times in all competitions in 2020-21.

The Slovakian made 27 club appearances last season, including 26 in the Premier League, but has not played for Howe’s side this season due to the signing of Nick Pope.
