Following Arsenal’s decisive victory over Liverpool on Sunday, Martin Odegaard has defended the team’s celebrations.
With a 3-1 victory over the Premier League leaders at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners opened open the title battle and closed the gap to just two points.
The Arsenal team honored one another with a lap of honor, and captain Odegaard snapped a photo of the team photographer on the field. Manager Mikel Arteta ran down the touchline in response to the third goal.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, two Sky Sports pundits, criticized the post-match scenes. Carragher stated that Arsenal’s players should “just get down the tunnel,” while Neville claimed the celebrations displayed “a little bit of immaturity.”
Nonetheless, following a victory that he believes will restart the team’s title challenge, Odegaard has justified the team’s actions.
The Norwegian stated, “I think everyone who loves football and understands football knows how much it means to win this game.” “And when can you celebrate if you’re not permitted to celebrate after you win a game?
“We are happy with the win and we’ll stay humble. We keep working hard and we prepare for the next one — but you have to be happy when you win.”
Upon capturing a photo of club photographer Stuart MacFarlane in front of Arsenal supporters, Odegaard remarked, “I thought it was a nice moment for him to get a good memory as well. He is such a big Arsenal fan, such a big heart for the club, he’s been here for so long.”
Ian Wright, a former striker for Arsenal, criticized the team’s celebrations and urged Arteta to continue having a great time.
