After spending a year on loan at Getafe, Mason Greenwood allegedly made the decision to remain at Manchester United for the upcoming campaign. After announcing last summer that the 22-year-old will not be playing for United, the Red Devils must make a major decision regarding him.
The one-cap England player was listed for sale, but he had trouble drawing any interest. As a result, he spent the season on loan at La Liga team Getafe. Due to Greenwood’s success in Spain, teams like Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have expressed interest in him before a possible long-term agreement is reached.

However, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company settle in, there is a new hierarchy at Old Trafford. When questioned about the possibility of the young forward joining United again, the INEOS boss did offer Greenwood a lifeline. Greenwood now has a say in the plans for the upcoming campaign.
According to The Sun, Greenwood would reject a long-term transfer to Barcelona provided United made it apparent that he could rejoin the team. Having not played for the team in more than two years, he is rumored to feel that he owes the supporters and Erik ten Hag something.
United want £34m for Greenwood but it remains to be seen if his potential suitors are prepared to meet that valuation. The price tag and his wage demands are out of reach for Getafe, despite the club keen on bringing him back next year.
it is unlikely that a big-money transfer such as Greenwood would be sanctioned soon. All while the player’s preference is to return to United and snub interest from elsewhere.
