Mathys Tel has disclosed that he chatted with Harry Kane before making the deadline-day move from Bayern Munich to Tottenham.
Tel joined Tottenham on loan for the remainder of the season in a spectacular late deal on Monday.
A deal for the 19-year-old attacker appeared dead last week, but Tottenham were able to rescue it on deadline day, providing head coach Ange Postecoglou with much-needed attacking reinforcements.
Tel has now told how former Tottenham striker Kane influenced his decision to join Spurs.
Kane is Tel’s Bayern teammate after leaving Tottenham to join them in 2023, and he informed the teenager that if he moved to north London, he would enjoy his time there.

“He told me this is a big club with a lot of very good people,” Tel remarked. “The pitch is really beautiful. The training facility is extremely good.
“And if you go there, you’ll enjoy it. So everything was positive from Harry Kane.”
Tottenham’s signing of Tel completed a busy transfer window for the club, which also added Austria centre-back Kevin Danso to its roster. According To Standard News.
Danso has joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan from French club Lens, with a permanent deal at the end of the season. “It feels amazing [to sign],” he said. “I’ve always wanted to play for a big club in the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur is exactly that… I think as soon as you hear Tottenham Hotspur is interested, the only thing you can do is say yes.”
“It’s just an amazing project to be a part of and I’m happy to be here. There’s opportunities to win trophies. I think that is every kid’s dream growing up — to win trophies at a Club like Tottenham Hotspur.”
Spurs have also announced the signings of 18-year-olds Dan Barry from Manchester City and Luca Furnell-Gill from Liverpool.
