Maupay – Home form prompting Falmer fear factor

Brighton’s recent run of three straight home wins is ensuring teams are “afraid” of taking on the Seagulls on their own patch, according to Neal Maupay. Maupay arrived at the Amex in the summer from Championship outfit Brentford and has wasted little time in endearing himself to the club’s support.
The Frenchman netted on his debut, the 3-0 opening weekend win at Watford, and has gone on to score on three further occasions, including in last month’s 3-2 success against Everton, a result that makes up part of a three-match winning streak the Seagulls have struck up at home.
October’s 3-0 victory against Tottenham started the streak and after adding the Toffees’ scalp, Potter’s side produced a routine 2-0 triumph over Norwich last Saturday.
With 15 points after 11 games enough to position them eighth in the table, Maupay and his team-mates are quietly putting a steady season together.
Things are about to get tougher with Manchester United, Leicester, Liverpool and Arsenal their next four opponents.
Last week saw Mat Ryan call on his side to make their home in Falmer a “fortress” as they aim to avoid another campaign flirting with the drop.
With three victories on the bounce, Maupay believes their form on the south coast is making them a force to be reckoned with. “Playing at home is easier for us. We have really good fans who are behind us from the start to the end, so it is definitely easier,” Maupay is quoted as saying but the Argus. “I think because of the way we are playing at the moment, teams are a bit afraid when they come here to the Amex. “We have three wins in a row here but if you want to be a really good team in this league, we need to be able to win away from home.”
