Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea will begin pre-season training next week, ushering in a new era at Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine was named the Blues’ new permanent head coach at the end of May, but he has yet to officially start at the club. Pochettino will begin his new job next Monday, joining a group of senior players in Cobham. Pochettino will practice with his new players in Surrey for a couple of weeks before heading to the United States for a pre-season tour. Chelsea will play Wrexham, Brighton, Newcastle United, Fulham, and Borussia Dortmund before returning to the UK in August for the first competitive encounter of the Pochettino era against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The 51-year-old coach will spend the next two weeks getting to know his new players, learning what he can expect from them, who he can rely on, and where some of their futures may lie. Despite Chelsea selling five players in recent days, there are many more who might be sold in the coming weeks.
Kalidou Koulibaly and Mateo Kovacic, two of Chelsea’s more senior players, are among those who have been sold. Similarly, with his contract in west London expiring, N’Golo Kante was able to go on a free transfer.
Jorginho had gone six months before, joining Arsenal for a fee of £12 million. These four players have a lot of experience, which helps a lot on a squad that is mostly young. Except for Koulibaly, three of them have worn the Chelsea captain’s armband at some stage.
