Mbappe Sends Heart-Felt Message To Maignan After Racial Abuse

Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe has sent a heart-warming message to AC Milan goalkeeper, Mike Maignan after he was subjected to racial abuse in his side’s 3-2 win over Udinese on Saturday.

Shortly before the half time, Maignan walked off the turf at Blue Energy Stadium in Udine after receiving racist taunts from home supporters in the Udinese Curva. There was a brief pause in the game.

Numerous messages of support were sent to the 28-year-old goalkeeper by other players and football clubs, including Milan’s rivals Inter.

According to Football Italia, Mbappé, a fellow countryman of Maignan, was one of those who supported his friend and France teammate and blamed the Udinese ultras.

“You are far from being alone, Mike Maignan,” Mbappé wrote in an Instagram story.

“We are all with you. Always the same problems and always no solution. It is not enough.”

Although a group of Udinese ultras has awkwardly stated there is “no proof” the former PSG and Lille keeper was subjected to racial abuse, Udinese have promised to ban those responsible for life.

Maignan has broken his silence about the unfortunate incident in which he was at the receiving end.

“I said we cannot play football like this,” he said.
“They must hand out very strong sanctions, because talking no longer does anything.
“We have to say that what they are doing is wrong. It is not the whole crowd. Most fans want to cheer on their team and jeer you, that’s normal, but not this.”
