Steve McManaman has hailed Real Madrid star Toni Kroos, stating that the 27-year-old could have played with his slippers on in the 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have one foot in the Champions League final yet again, after thrashing their rivals at the Santiago Bernabeu in the semi-final first leg.
Real were utterly dominant throughout against their city rivals and led after 10 minutes when Ronaldo headed home Casemiro’s cross, before the 32-year-old icon added another two.
Ronaldo, who is the top scorer in the history of the Champions League with 103 goals, may have stolen the show in the Spanish capital, but one man in particular who received plenty of praise was Kroos.
The Germany international controlled the game alongside Luka Modric in the middle of the park and former Real Madrid man, McManaman, was full of praise for the ex-Bayern Munich star.
“They never get fazed do they. When you see him (Kroos) play or Modric, if they get closed down they just drop a shoulder, turn out, inside of the foot or outside of the foot,” McManaman told BT Sport. “They’re so comfortable on the ball and more importantly so confident.
“You see those passes tonight, you don’t seem them in the Premier League. People look up (in the Premier League) and they think ‘hmm’. But these guys, they just fizz the ball over. He could have played with his slippers on today, Toni Kroos. He’s that good.”
Real Madrid must now turn their attentions to the trip to Granada this coming weekend, before the return leg against Atletico comes next week at the Vicente Calderon.
