Andres Iniesta declared his retirement from football on social media on Monday. The brilliant midfielder, who most recently played for Emirates Club in the United Arab Emirates, ends his incredible 22-year career with immediate effect.
Seven La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, six Copa del Reys, three Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, and five Spanish Super Cups were among the 29 trophies that Iniesta won when he was at Barcelona.
Evidently, he also won the European Championship twice and the World Cup once. Most famously scoring the game-winning goal in the former’s final against the Netherlands.
Iniesta has received a lot of tributes, including from his former Barcelona colleague Lionel Messi, who shared an exciting tribute on Instagram as reported by Football Espana.
“One of the teammates with the most magic and the ones I enjoy playing together the most. Andres, the ball is going to miss you and so are all of us. I wish you the best always, a phenomenon.”

Messi and Iniesta played together for the Catalan club for a number of years while winning all trophies available as they led the club to the pinnacle of football.
What Iniesta does after his playing career is still up in the air. It might be feasible to return to Barcelona in some manner.
