Metz rocked by Cabit car crash injury blow

Ligue 1 strugglers Metz have been hit by the news left-back Manuel Cabit is facing a spell out after being seriously injured in a car accident. The 26-year-old was hurt when the car he was travelling in crashed on the A4 motorway near Metz, north-east France, on Sunday afternoon.
Metz team-mate Kevin N’Doram was also in the same car with Cabit but emerged unscathed.
The Martiniquais, who has made three appearances for the club since joining in the summer from Ajaccio, is currently in hospital in Reims although his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. “N’Doram, injured, was able to leave hospital quickly. At the same time shocked by the accident – he will be resting for a few days,” Metz said in a statement. “Manuel Cabit, unfortunately, was seriously injured. He is currently at CHU hospital in Reims. His condition is not life-threatening. His family and those close to him are around him. His team, coaches and all at FC Metz are giving him their intense support in these difficult moments and wish a speedy recovery.”
It appears that 23-year-old defensive midfielder N’Doram, who is on loan from Monaco, is unlikely to be fit for Metz’s next game at Lille in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
The news will come as a huge blow to coach Vincent Hognon as Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Montpellier left Les Grenats 19th in the table although they are level on 12 points with Dijon in 16th spot.
