Girona manager Michel backed Lamine Yamal to become as brilliant as Lionel Messi after the teenager scored twice for Barcelona in Sunday’s 4-1 victory.
Yamal put Barcelona ahead 2-0 in the game, continuing his outstanding performances for club and country since joining the team.

After Barcelona’s victory, Michel lavished Yamal with adulation, comparing him to the greatest of all time.
“Lamine is a difference-maker,” he told journalists. “At the age of 17, I believe he is already one of the top players in the world.
“It is difficult to imagine that after Messi another [like him] would come along, but I hope that Lamine keeps improving because he’s a player than can reach that level.”
Yamal has had to deal with comparisons to Messi throughout his time at Barcelona, and he has always correctly dismissed such chatter, recently stating that it would be “impossible” to match the GOAT.
