Might Bite return at Aintree

Trainer Nicky Henderson says Might Bite may be set for a run at Aintree next month as he looks to regain his confidence. The 2018 Gold Cup runner-up has endured an awful time since narrowly being beaten by Native River at Cheltenham. After winning the Betway Bowl Chase, the ten-year-old finished fifth from five at Haydock and seventh at Kempton. He then pulled up in this year’s Gold Cup at Cheltenham which was his last ride. However, Henderson says he has more to offer despite his bad form and is looking to the great Sprinter Sacre for inspiration. “He has got to find his way back,” said Henderson. “All I’m thinking is I’m going down the Sprinter Sacre road, in a horse that has lost his way and things have gone wrong. We knew what had gone wrong with Sprinter, but he had to gain confidence in himself. “You have to think the same way with Might Bite because he has been in a lot of battles and was very good, but last year was a disaster. “I believe in him, but he has got his own self-confidence to find. The Many Clouds at Aintree looks a possible starting point for him.”
