Mikel Arteta Might Regret A Missed Opportunity With The Forgotten Man Oleksandr Zinchenko

Mikel Arteta will speak with Oleksandr Zinchenko about his future at the end of the season, and there is mounting speculation that the Ukrainian may depart Arsenal this summer.

Zinchenko was previously an important player for Arteta, but he has plummeted down the pecking order, starting only four games this season.

Borussia Dortmund expressed interest in signing the 28-year-old during the January transfer window, and by the summer, he will have only one year left on his present contract.

“I do that with every player before we finalise the season, if possible, if we have time to do so,” Arteta stated when asked about speaking with Zinchenko.

“So everybody’s clear on expectations from each other, clarity about how we’re feeling about each other and how that relationship can continue is the best thing, and other things to do and discuss. I’m certainly going to have that discussion with all of them.” According To Standard Uk.

When Zinchenko joined Arsenal from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 for more than £30 million, he transformed the way the team played from the back.

Tucking into the center of the pitch from left-back, he helped Arsenal generate an overload in midfield and overpower opponents.

It started an unexpected title charge, which Zinchenko spearheaded.

Despite missing out on the top four the previous season, he continuously urged players that they should be fighting for the title when he arrived in the summer.

Zinchenko rose to prominence as a leader and popular figure, thanks in large part to his proclivity for practical jokes.

When confronted with deep defences, Odegaard has had to unlock opponents.

Having Zinchenko with him as a second playmaker could have helped ease some of that.
