AC Milan midfielder, Isamel Benaccer is reportedly back to Italy for rehabilitation as he steps up on his recovery from a knee injury he sustained last season.
The Algeria international underwent surgery on May 16th after sustaining the injury five months prior. According to Cult Of Calcio, the combative midfielder will possibly be back on the pitch by January. If it’s not risky enough, he’ll try to get back sooner.
Bennacer suffered an injury during one of several derbies against Inter in the previous season, during the first leg of the Champions League semifinals. He suffered a post-traumatic rip on the lateral condyle of his femur. A few days later, he underwent surgery in Barcelona.
In his place, the recently emerged Rade Krunic and Yacine Adli have been keeping things down in his position.
The Rossoneri made the decision not to look for a successor in the transfer market. However, if he makes a full recovery and performs well, Algeria may call him up for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
Though, the midfielder is likely to miss the tournament which will be hosted in Ivory Coast early next year. He will be hoping to resume footballing action with Milan.

After finishing 4th on the log in the 2022/23 season, the 2021/22 Serie A champions will be eyeing the Scudetto this season. They are currently top of the pile with 21 points, two points ahead of city rivals, Inter.
The positive news of Bennacer will most likely be a boost for the Rossoneri as they will also challenge for the UEFA Champions League title after seeing their eternal rivals go all the way to the final last campaign before losing out to Manchester City.
