During the late hours of Saturday, the parents of Liverpool star, Luis Diaz were abducted. While his mother has reportedly been rescued, his father is still missing. And there is a reward available for his safe return.
It has been announced that the Reds forward’s mother, Cilenis Marulanda, has been saved after a police pursuit that began on Saturday afternoon when the Liverpool star’s parents were kidnapped. It happened close to their house in the Caribbean area of Colombia, in the town of Barrancas.
Despite earlier local rumors of a shootout, Colombian authorities have not been able to find his father. In an effort to keep Diaz updated on the situation, police chiefs have spoken with him.
The player was absent from Liverpool’s team for their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. The Reds honored Diaz after Diogo Jota’s opening goal in the 3-0 victory at Anfield.
Francisco Barbosa, Colombia’s attorney general, thinks Diaz snr might have been sent to Venezuela.
He briefed reporters: “We have information that he could, at some point, be in Venezuela. If he ends up crossing the border and he’s in Venezuela, we have to ask [Colombia] President Gustavo Petro… to help us with freeing Luis Diaz’s father.”
